Josephus calls it Amygdalon, or the Tower Pool. It is called by the Arabians “Birket Hammam el-Batrak.” It is also called the pool of the Patriarch’s Bath, because the water is used for filling the large bath of the Patriarch. / This pool is fed by water brought from the Mamilla Pool, which is believed to be the “Upper Pool” of the Old Testament. The subterranean passage connecting these two pools is 1,000 feet long.
